If I was living in medieval times, I would simply hire a Herald and get him to do marketing work. Kings and large landowners hired heralds as messengers and ambassadors.
What a week this has been. I realised I have been so on the go that my body has aches in places I did not realise. This week was all about producing a speaker’s power reel for my speaker class and trying to get it as close to perfection and what I can, while still writing. My videographer would end through updates, and I would spend hours viewing and finding time stamps. Then sending instructions like… “At 00:00:42, please make the lettering bigger.“ He works late at night and I work early in the morning, but I stayed up later to prepare his next series of instructions. It has thrown my natural sleep rhythms out a bit and I find myself in need of some good old-fashioned R&R (relaxation and recreation).
If I was living in medieval times, I would simply hire a Herald and get him to do marketing work. Kings and large landowners hired heralds as messengers and ambassadors. They also organised, announced, and acted as referees for the contestants at tournaments. A bit like an MC. They would have to proclaim each joust and then announce each combatant. A herald had to study the family derivation and be able to recognize the arms of local nobles on sight.
However, they had some more dangerous origins. They were originally officers in the army carrying messages to and from the commanders of opposing armies. That is not the kind of MC job I would want, especially not when I know that is where the expression “Don’t kill the messenger,” comes from.
So that concludes my very short newsletter. I am off for a short break and then hope to get out a chapter of book 5.
