Book Interviews for Authors

Bring the story behind your book to life.

Kim Vermaak is a thoughtful book interviewer, author, speaker and book coach who helps authors share their ideas, experiences and messages through engaging conversations with readers and audiences.

Book Interviewer for Authors Who Want to Be Heard

A book interview should be more than a list of predictable questions.
It should help readers understand the story behind your book, the ideas that shaped it and why your message matters.
As a book interviewer, I create thoughtful, engaging conversations that help authors share their stories in a natural and memorable way.
I prepare carefully, ask meaningful questions and create space for you to speak about the book you have worked so hard to bring into the world.

Your Book Has a Story Behind the Story

Every book has more than one story.
There is the story on the page, but there is also the story of why you wrote it, what inspired you, what you learned along the way and what you hope readers will take from it.
My role is to help bring that deeper story to the surface.
I do not believe an author interview should feel like an interrogation or a rehearsed sales pitch. It should feel like a genuine conversation that allows the author and the audience to connect.
Whether you are launching your first book or building visibility for an established title, I will help create a conversation that is warm, focused and relevant to your readers.

A Conversation Prepared Around Your Book

Before the interview, I take time to understand your book, your audience and the message you want to share.
I consider:
  • What inspired you to write the book
  • Who the book is written for
  • What you want readers to understand
  • The themes and ideas explored in the book
  • The personal or professional experiences behind the story
  • The questions your book may raise for readers
  • How the conversation can support your launch or promotion
This preparation allows me to ask questions that go beyond the surface while keeping the conversation accessible and engaging.

What We Can Explore Together

Your interview may explore:
  • The inspiration behind your book
  • The journey from idea to finished manuscript
  • The personal or professional experiences that shaped your work
  • The central message you want readers to take away
  • The challenges you faced while writing and publishing
  • The people who most need to read your book
  • The ideas, themes and questions raised by your work
  • The lessons readers can apply in their own lives
  • What the book means to you as an author
  • What you hope readers will do, feel or understand after reading it
The conversation can also include audience questions and a natural invitation for listeners to discover where they can buy your book or learn more about your work.
